CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME

If you have been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), then you know how elusive effective treatment can be.  This condition has baffled MD’s for many years and continues to do so. The medical profession has labeled CFS a “garbage pail term” because the symptoms tend to be generally vague and could lead to any number of conditions.  At one point CFS was called “The Yuppie Disease” and was attributed to overworked, over-stressed individuals and written off as “all in their heads”. Once MD’s acknowledged CFS as a legitimate condition, it was attributed to the Epstein-Barr virus until that theory was later disproved.  This has left traditional medicine back at square one with very little to help the CFS sufferer.

CFS symptoms are real, and if you suffer from them, then you know how incapacitating they can be.  Aside from the extreme fatigue which has lasted months or even years, the symptoms can include:

  • Lethargy, poor memory, mood swings and ‘spaciness’

  • Weakened immune system

  • Gastrointestinal disturbance, ranging from constant bloating and gas to irritable bowel syndrome

  • Hormonal imbalances

  • Food and/or environmental allergies or sensitivities

  • Anemia

  • Lymph node swelling

  • Frequent fungal or yeast infections

These are just a few of the more prominent symptoms which may be present, but the individual symptoms vary from person to person.

If you have:

  • Taken antibiotics repeatedly or for prolonged periods of time

  • Taken birth control pills, corticosteroids or immunosuppressants

  • Had multiple pregnancies

  • Worsening of symptoms after eating sugary or yeast containing foods

  • Abdominal bloating; clothes fitting tighter at the end of the day

then candida or intestinal parasites may be the underlying cause of your problem.
